Two Classroom sessions at Judson Learning Academy and one range session at Bracken Rifle and Pistol Range as arranged in class.

This course provides the instruction and training requirements for the student to apply for or renew a concealed handgun license (CHL) in Texas. The student will be required to pass a written examination and satisfactorily demonstrate proficiency with a handgun. Students must be at least 21 years old to take the handgun proficiency examination. All requirements for the CHL will be explained at the beginning of class. Students will provide their own handgun of at least .32 caliber, ammunition, and hearing and eye protection. A valid Texas Drivers License/Texas ID card is required for certification. The initial course requires a minimum of 12 hours of classroom and range time. The renewal is 5 hours of classroom and range time. Completion of this course requires a basic proficiency with a handgun. Basic pistol training is available upon arrangements with the instructor
Initial course is $75. Renewals are $50 (Additional fees: $8 range fees and $5 certification fee). Renewals are completed on the second Saturday of each session. Meets Saturdays: 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. for two classroom sessions at Judson Learning Academy and one 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. range session at Bracken Rifle and Pistol Range as arranged in class. Do not bring handguns to the classroom. All pistol handling and instruction will be done at the range.
